Indoor Residential Pool Planning

Plan indoor pools around humidity, ventilation, building envelope, water chemistry, emergency access and lifetime operating cost.

An indoor pool is a building-environment project as much as a pool project. Warm water releases moisture and chemicals into a space that must be designed to manage them.

Humidity control first

Dedicated dehumidification and ventilation protect windows, structure and finishes. Ordinary home HVAC is rarely a substitute.

Building materials

Use assemblies that tolerate humid, chlorinated air and prevent moisture migration into walls and roofs.

Covering the pool when idle reduces evaporation. Good water balance and air distribution help control odours and corrosion.

Emergency and maintenance access

Plan safe deck circulation, doors, drainage, chemical storage and removal paths for large equipment.
